If you need to replace the hard drive and you're asking this question, you better leave the casing of the HD alone.
To replace the drive is extremely simple.. pull it out from the inside and look at its type (SATA or IDE), and make note of what type it is. You can go on newegg.com or amazon.com and look for hard drives. The actual size compared to the broken one doesn't matter, as long as the HD type is the same.
