Hey everyone,
I recently posted a 512mb CF card to a friend. It arrived in 2 pieces! Over 500 photos, 7 weeks of my trip to Australia!! Basically the tops come off it so you can see the chips - which appear undamaged. I have sticky taped the two pieces together to try and read in 2 digital cameras/USB card reader. None of which will recognise theres a disc in there so I can't recover thru software.

Conclusion: I need to send it to someone who can basically either read the chips some other way, or simply fix the b---tard!
Tried contacting the manufacturer - Viking Interworks - they didn't wanna know, just told me to attempt recovery via recovery software - Doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas? Any at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks folks,
AJ Smith!

Here's an idea>

Send the pictures on cd-rom.

If it breaks, your out 20-cents instead of >$100.

Sooner or later, you will learn to back up your data!

I agree, sending the card itself was a bad idea! They are way too fragile.
