Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook

Specs: Windows XP
i have a Dell Ins. I sent it back to Dell because the battery was not holding a charge and the computer only works when plugged in. Dell replaced the battery and the charger and still the battery does not charge. I sent it back a second time and now they are saying they need to replace the mother board because there is a broken audio port. They want $200 because it is not covered by the basic extended warranty I bought. Does this sound right or should I have them send it back to me unfixed and take it to a local repair shop?

Just an opinion:
Lap tops are becoming like Bics. (when it runs out of gas you toss it). Compare the cost + insurance + not covered items against the price of a new one.

Now see if you can find one without the hard drive, ram ,
cdrom, A: battery and charger and use your parts from the laptop thats in need of a new board. Hmmmm?

A repair shop will most likely cost you more than $200.00
Call around and get a few quotes.
