Comment:

I just bought this computer, have been a MAC-user for years, but got tired of all the things not working with Mac OS or get veeeery expensive.
Well, i bought this one, no programs installed. I installed XP Home ed. and the comp. started up as it should. Installed all drivers and extras that was delivered with the machine, and it booted up great, and all seemed just fine.
Also installed for my broadband connection and the internet seemed to go by the speed of lightning compared to my Mac.
Then suddenly it just died! No reaction what so ever. Would not start up when i pressed the on-switch in front, or if i shut it down with the main switch and on again, no reaction.
After a couple of hours i tried again, and then the CPU-fan started, but nothing else. Impossible to open the DVD burner, and no HD-led in front. Since that this have been the case. Just the CPU-fan that starts, and nothing else.
I´m as i said a newbie to PC, and are looking for anyone who can tell me what the problem can be. I think ma by it can be the power supply but not sure.

It's a pitty this had to happen just as you decided to use PC's insted of MAC's. You are probably right about it being your powersupply. As Sabertooth said, bring it back to the supplier. Hope your next try works out better for you.

Is there a voltage switch on the back of the power supply? If so, are you sure it's on the right setting?

A friend of mine done that, fried the power supply, luckily it didn't damage any of the other components.

It *might* be that the power suppply isn't large enough to cope with all the components in the computer.

If you bought it from a retailer, do NOT open because I can promise you that will void any gurantee. To be honest a retailer selling computers day in day out should know what they/he is doing, so it may just be that the power supply was faulty.
