Hello everyone!

I have an Asus mobo (i cant get the exact tech. specs right now, will add later), AMD cpu and a 250 w psu. It was bought last week, i installed an OS and some software into it and yesterday when i left work i shut down the PC normally, plugged it off the wall just to be careful and this morning when i came back to work, put the plugs back to the wall, ensured the power switch on the back was ON and pressed The Button, nothing happened. No lights, no fan action, not even a single squeak on the psu. It's totally dead. What is going on here? I suspect the psu, but i want to hear your opinions too.

Things i have done so far with no help:

- Triple-checked that the power switch is ON

- Checked that the cords from the front panel are rigidly and correctly attached to the mobo inside the computer.

-Tested with another wall socket and another power cord.

-Lost my trusty screwdriver, temper, patience and faith in the benevolence of mandkind. Only you can help.

First off. We need the specs.

Amd cpu, could be anything from a 75 mhz to a 3200XP.

If you are running an Athlon , that power supply is insuffieient to begin with, and will ultimately cause a problem, which could be the death of your cpu or mothebroard or both.

300 watts is minimum for 1gig Athlon, and if Athlon XP then get at least 400 watt. 350 is SCRAPING the barrel. 250 is suicide.

Get a new PSU ANYWAY to begin with. 400 watt should be fine if you arenet filling every single pci slot and running 20 usb devices!

That way, you'll know for sure if it is the PSU and you need a better one anyway. You may be lucky. Let us know.

Try discharging the capacitors:
Unplug the power cord from the computers side and then press and hold the power button on the computer for about 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn it on.
Worth a try.

Good luck.
