HELLO ,

Why negative numbers cannot be multiplied in the OLD METHOD i.e "Hardware implementation of unsigned binary multiplication"...whereas in Booths Algorithm we can multiply signed binary numbers??

I do not know about Booth's algorithm, but what application are you using to try multiplying negative binary numbers.

In my experience certain programming languages (e.g. commercial) could not handle some mathmatical function, whereas othere (e.g. mathmatic/scientific) could.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Sounds like a homework question.

This pdf might be a good start, followed by a Google for "Booths Algorithm" then compare notes:
BINARY ARITHMETIC

Because signed negative binary numbers are inverted and are not the same as the positive with jsut a - sign in the front. They are "negative numbers". Because of this you can use them in a calculation without needing to know if they are + or -
Two's compliment is the process that explains this but if you google it you get a lot of overcomplicated answers
