Hey u guys,

i need all the help i can get because i have a big problem.

My laptop started a while ago having problems, eg it just froze and on the screen a whole lot of vertical lines of different colours appeared. Then when i tried rebooting immediatly it didn't boot up...the screen was blank no bios no anything...after half an hour or so it booted up normally...

After a week or so of this then one day it just stopped booting up. The lights come on of the power button and its checking the cdrom and hard disk then does nothing...no bios nothing...Also the screen seems to be turned of.

My first though is that it is the graphics card heated up alot due to the "lines" problem and then burned but i checked by removing the graphics card..but again it didn't do anything...usually when u remove the graphics card should it not beep or something telling you ur missing something?? Also the card's fan works...

PLEASE TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE MATTER...
my warranty has expired and since its an alienware it costs a fortune to send and repair it again...

Thanks Mike..

There is no real way for you to troubleshoot. I think you will need to get the vendor to service it. I am not familiar with removable graphics cards on laptops. If you have the card out can you see the CPU? If so, does the CPU fan turn when you attempt to boot? Were you using the AC adapter or battery power. I suggest you write the answers to ALL those questions and any others you can think of and include them, along with model# info, in an Email to the vendor asking if they can speculate what is wrong and what it would cost to repair. Additionally, what warranty would accompany the repair. Might be better to part out if too expensive to repair.
