Specs: Windows XP Pro
is it normal that an emaxx mcp61m-icafe motherboard takes a few seconds before it start booting?

power button > led light on > ABOUT 10 SECS BEFORE monitor and keyboard starts lighting up and starts booting.

If it works correctly and it does that every time then don't worry about it. Some server boards take much longer too get to post.

Might be some bios entry to speed it up but 10 seconds isn't bad.

Ha, no manual for your MOBO on their website:
(aw they suck!). You could look in this manual for EMX-MCP61P-AVL:

...could be the Quick Power On Self Test BIOS setting, Pg 21.

I usually set all my machines to POST THOROUGH anyway, takes a little longer, but if there's a problem ever with the system, chances are better that a thorough POST test will inform you sooner of a potential hardware issue.

Just another stupid saying...

Quick Power On Self Test: Enabled.
also disabled a few features like:
*full screen logo
*parallel ports (because it doesn't have any)
*serial ports (because i don't use them)
*and a few more settings i couldn't remember.

i guess i might just have to wait for a bios update... if ever..

thanks guys!
