boot failure due to new ram

Comment:
I recently added 256 mb of PC133 SDRAM to my motherboard (Intel P4 - part# MB845) which already had 256 mb of PC133 SDRAM and now when I reboot I get the message "boot failure;system halted". How do I fix this? Or, at the very least, get my system back to the way it was before the addition of the ram.

It could be new RAM Non compatible or faulty. RAM not seated properly. Reseat RAM, if that doesn't work, remove the chip you just added and power on your PC.

Try booting with only one stick of ram. Try both old and new. Try swapping slots. I had similar problem. System would boot with either stick but not when both were installed. Just incompatible. Nothing to do but trade for sticks that were compatible. Weird thing is the incompatible sticks were from same manufacturer with identical specs but bought 2 years apart. Working combination now two old sticks from different makers. go figure
