boot device not found

Specs: hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc, 4096 mb
i have a hp pavilion note book. it was running fine. i got a message boot device not found. it stopped loading. weird thing though. tonight i tried to to turn it on. it loaded. then after 20 minutes it shut down and i got the no boot device message again. not to good at this. i cpu/ram ill enter what i think you need to kinow.

It can't load OS because the hard drive isn't recognized. Enter BIOS and check if listed there, if not reinstall the hard drive.

Check the connectors to the drive, an power or signal cable could be loose or bad, or the drive might be bad.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi Kuwese,

from the description, it appears it does load then after 20 minutes shuts down and is then unable to boot. Leave it off for some time and it loads, works ok for 20 minutes then fails again.

This rather suggests a possible heating issue - would you agree?

Good point Mike.
Those HP pavilion dv6 are plagued with GPU overheat, and when heat reach critical point(the system shutdown) it cause the surrounding hardware not to function well.
