When I start my computer and have the bios set to boot from harddrive 1, I get an error "boot device Failure",and my computer freezes. When I set the bios to boot from the cd rom and leave the win xp disk in it boots ok.
I ran scandisk from dos, checked the harddrive for any virus, reinstalled the latest bios for the motherboard, and reinstalled windows xp, and this didn't help. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like your master boot record is messed up, on your windows xp cd, in the non-repair console repair place there is a way that it checks and can fix this.

It's worth a shot.
