I have a 5.1 Sound Blaster Live! I am running a WinDVD 4 that runs 5.1 sound through the S/PDIF digital out, rather then using software output like WinDVD 4 Plus. WinDVD 4 plus allows you to select 6 speaker setup and runs through software, which sounds a whole lot better because the volume boost is stronger. The S/PDIF signal has a weaker volume level, which requires you to crank the speakers, and in affect, get fuzziness out of your speakers. In addition to that, the sound skips out every now and then.

So instead of purchasing 40 dollar DVD software to have better quality sound, is there any way to boost the S/PDIF signal volume?

I know it's blindingly obvious, but have you checked the S/PDIF volume fader in the Windows Volume Control?

If you can't see it in Volume Control, go to properties and check the appropriate box.

Yes, but that is the S/PDIF in volume, and it is all the way up. Is there some special program or software that could maybe boost the sound cards volume?

I have checked every volume control, I have them all maxxed out.
