I have a microsoft bluetooth elite keyboard and mouse. It has worked well for years. Tonight the keyboard didn't work, so I changed the batteries. I re-connected it and was able to type the passkey on the keyboard successfully. It took the passkey and said it was connected. The problem is that I cannot type anything else since the passkey. I tried multiple browsers and open office apps. When I type, nothing shows up. It still says connected in the bluetooth menu.
Any ideas???

Does the mouse work correctly ? Also, if you have a different keyboard you can connect, see if the typing shows up then. You might need to unistall and then reinstall the software for the elite keyboard and mouse.

The mouse does still work, that's why I changed the battery in the keyboard. The keyboard even connects and allows my to input the passkey. It just won't enter anything in browsers, docs, anything else.

I reinstalled both the mouse and the keyboard software, I tried removing the dongle at various times. Nothing works. It seems to connect, then immediately does not work. Sometimes the icon remains in the bluetooth devices window for the device, sometimes it disappears.
The fact that it initially connects tells me it may be an interference issue, but why now. I do have a belkin wirless G WAP in the same room but it's been there the whole time. If there's interference, how do I fix it? I could buy a new unit, maybe a logitech but am worried that is not the problem. Thanks, Pat

You could try putting the belkin wirless G on a different channel.
