Specs: Windows XP
Ok here goes...... gotta laptop HP DV 5000,
win xp, won't boot, flashes for a moment the
HP logo and gives the option for loading the
bios, need someone to point me in the right
direction to help with getting the files off this
thing. Was considering networking it with my
PC to try to boot from the network. Prior to
this nice lil mishap used the wonderful virus
cleaner called "webroot" did a virus scan and
the rest is history.. any ideas as i throw my
SOS out there for suggestions such as links
or ways to create a good bootable emergency
CD that won't wipe out my files as I toil
through the night on this one?

person suggest to Boot from the XP cd and then choose repair
installation, will this wipe out the files on the hardrive?

Thanks

"will this wipe out the files on the hardrive?" No, and it will leave your programs intact as well-but you will have to reinstall Windows updates.
