Hey all,

I have been noticing recently that I am getting more than a few blue screen errors a day. THey are usually something like:

OE: 0197: BFF8E648

I also have been getting blue screen errors like:

System halted, general windows protection error, or something like that...

Anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks, Red.

might be the ram, might not be the ram
there is only one way to find that out is to run diagnostic program designed to test your ram
its called memtest 86, you can download it from Http://www.memtest86.com

It also could be a heat problem. Try taking the side panel off and blowing a house fan into it.

also

from dos try scanreg /fix

run scandisk using the thorough option

write down one of these messages and enter it here:

if none of these errors has resulted in a system freeze-up or restart the odds that it is software related go up. Windows knows how to report software errors but if the hardware is broken there isn't a lot it can do.

THanks for all the information. I am going to use those sources and instruction to try and resolve this, or come to a conclusion, at least.

I am having freezing problems, and my system has always seemed very hot, physically, although I have never really tested it.

I installed a new psu, an antec 350 with the dual fans and all that... it seemed to run cooler for a while, but when I use my system for a long period of time it just seems to get hotter and hotter...

Weird, Thanks again, Red.
