I tried searching on the internet and I could not find the answer to this question; what are the system requirements to burn a blue ray disc, at let’s say 4x speed? There is a relatively new Sony Blue Ray Disc Player, and it says the Processor requirements are a 3.0GHz Pentium IV, but that is to play avchd files, I just want to know what it takes to burn a disc, with let’s say Nero 8.

Thank You,
Jesse

"What are the minimum system requirements to record or playback Blu-ray?"

CPU: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz or faster

512MB RAM or more

30GB free HDD space or more

Operating System: Windows XP SP2 Home Edition or Professional

IEEE 1394 (i-Link) port ( for HDV camcorder connection)

Recommend UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution computer display

Now if you are actually talking about burning or copying a Blu Ray disc vs authoring, the hardware is not so much an obstacle if you think about the legal ramification & copy-protection of the new format. Unfortunately, topics like that are off-limits on this forum.

Good luck!

Usually the requirements for burning data to a disk are pretty low. EG; a P2 at 266MHz cant play a DVD but it can burn data to a DVD pretty easily. I assume it would be the same for Blu-ray

My Super P3
PIII-S @ 1.5GHz
768MB PC133 @ 145MHz
128MB 9550 340/240
Now with a new motherboard and AGP4X!!!

I agree with Mattwizz3. With that CPU, you'd be able to burn data to BD without any difficulty, but watching BD movies would be a different story!

The creme de la creme of Socket 939:
Opty 185 @ 3.2GHz
SLI'ed GTS-640s, both flashed to 625/1458/1950
4GB PC3200
Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, X-Fi
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
3DMark06: 13896
