Blue lines on moniter at start-up

When i come to switch my computer on (from standby/power off), the moniter light flashes orange, then after 1 minute, blue and green vertical lines appear on the screen. If I wait for the lines to appear, switch my computer off at the wall, then re-start the computer, all is well.

Yes. It could be that certain pins on your video out are bent. This can cause colors on the monitor, although I'm not too sure and don't want to test my theory.
