Does anyone know of a material that will block electromagnetic waves coming from my computer/monitor?

Lead apron? Tinfoil hat?

Why don't they make computers that will do what we think we want them to do?

You are going to have to be a LOT more specific about your question.

If you have convinced yourself that there is some health risk from "electromagnetic waves" radiating from your computer equipment, then not much I can say, except,

If there really are such health risks, where is the evidence? Can you show me statistics of the thousands of people who are evidently Dropping Dead every day from this cause?

Or are you having some kind of interferance problems?

So far as interferance to radios, all computers are required to be shielded under what is known in the U.S. as "FCC Part 15" which sets standards on how much, if any r.f. noise a product can radiate, and also what it "must" tolerate, i.e. no protection under those rules.

Of course, those of you who go around leaving the cover off your computer case, or cutting Great Big Holes in the side, are nullifying that shielding, and, in fact, are violating FCC regulations, at least in the U.S.

ANY tight metal box will shield RF energy, (EMR) but it must be TIGHT. The higher the RF frequency, the "easier" it is for RF to escape some small hole, slot, or other opening in the shield.

Or, just wear a tinfoil cap on your head, 24 hours a day.

most monitors are tco compliant.
if it is not stay at least 28 inches from screen
some anti glare panels can reduce elf and vlf emissions

replace crt monitor with a lcd display which don't produce elf emissions(no electron gun or magnets).
source "upgrading and repairing pc's" vol 15 page 852
