Specs: Windows XP SP2, 1.7GHz/256MB DDR 266
In my compaq Presario 6000 series Desktop of P4,256MB,40GB,CRT the system is not booting on pressing the ON button, rather the LED of Numlock (marked as 1 on top of KB) is blinking continuosley without having any beep sounds and the mouse is not detected. The power light and hard disk LED are visible.Incidently I used my system continuosly for more than 10 hrs.In previous occassions, when this error comes(LED blinks), just shutdown to cool and after 1 hr i could boot; but this time even after cooling full day, the same problem occurs.Kindly advice what would have gone wrong with my system.

Microsoft should have a screen pop up telling the user the system is overheating and if not fixed the system will crash and burn.

But they don't... So we just have to rely on the fact that if the computer shuts down until's up to us to stop using the computer until the problem is fixed.

I think your computer is toast. :-(
