Comment:

I have Windows ME installed on a Fujitsu ErgoPro X365 P2 350 MHZ.I am attempting to install a Verto Gforce4 MX 420 PCI graphics card
and all i get at start up is a Blank Screen with 5 beeps. I have upgraded my power supply from 150 watts to 400 watts. The card requires 300 watts.
This didnt help.I can only assume my PC is not PCI 2 compliant which the card requires.
My BiOS appears to be Pheonix 1.10. I read this from looking at the system info via windows.
My beeps are:
1 long one followed by 4 short ones. When i take out the card and use my built-in default VGA everything is ok (My default vga is only 4mb)
and after looking at the table of beep codes they appear to blame the motherboard?
My last 3dcard worked fine untill it gave up.
It was a PCI 3d prophet NvidiaTNT32 mb and i had no probs installing it or playing games,
despite having a beep warning of 1 long one followed by 3 short ones each time the pc booted.
I am at the point of prehaps installing a 'Flash Bios Upgrade'?

Did you try to disable the onboard video adapter in BIOS?

Then you'll also need to set up AGP for the new card specs.

Errrmm.. His Geforce is PCI, not AGP. Have you gone to the mobos manufactures site? They should have info regarding your beep codes. Have you tried pulling the card out, booting to windows, disabling the onboard video from the hardware manager, shutdown, install pci card, reboot, should work. Post back.
