Blank screen after RAM install

Specs: Windows 7, 1GB DDR3 1333MHZ
I have a notebook Acer one D270, I wanted to upgrade the RAM as the original RAM of 1GB to 2GB.

I purchased a 2GB mem stick making sure the type was compatible with the unit.

I installed the new RAM. When I tried to switch the notebook on the light on the power button comes on the fan switches on, but the screen remains blank.

I have tried to clean the RAM edges with an eraser, as I read on the website this could solve the problem, but in my case it doesn't.

I have also tried to reinsert the original RAM in the notebook and I get the exact same symptoms when I try to switch it on.

Has anybody a suggestion to solve this problem?

You do not have a notebook. You have a netbook. The difference being the lack of an optical (CD) drive.

Did you remove the netbook from the AC and remove the battery BEFORE messing with the RAM?

If you're 100% sure it's compatible, the only possibility is that you did something incorrectly.

I did remove the AC and the battery before replacing the RAM. I have been carefull when handling the RAM, but is it possible I damaged it when inserting it?
