Specs: Windows XP
Hi there, my computer has been shutting itself off for months, yesterday it was shutting itself off and on after being on for a few hours and in frustration I shut it off at the wall .... now when I go to reboot I get a beep then the bios page real quick that says memory ok .... primary something or other secondary slave .... then it goes to the black grey screen before windows XP, but windows doesn't boot up it just stays a black grey blank screen .... if I hold down delete .... the setup page comes up ,,.. can I do something on this to fix it? .... if I push in the reset button next to the power button on the tower does this help? ..... thanks

shutting down the system without "Shutdown" Button is probably has corrupted the boot sector....boot from Win XP cd, enter to the recovery console and write the following ( Press ENTER after each line )

chkdsk /p /r

once everything completes, type exit and press ENTER.....the system should boot up now...
