blank screen after base change

Specs: Windows XP
Dell lattitude D530 laptop. Laptop hit the floor with power cord in. The unit was not able to run off the battery and the jack had to be jiggled some time to get it to work. So I opened the unit up, See the jack damage and circuit print board damage I decided I was not that much more to
change out the base instead of just the power jack with the bonus of a new lower base.
I justified changing the base because low cost ($119 for a new dell base with motherboard from a guy with 1000's of prior sales and a better that 98% positive feedback rating),
With an Radio tv repair training for H.S and recently having built 4 desktop system felt confident in my ability to swap out the components to the new base from the old laptops motherboard.
Well the unit I did and I see the hard drive light come on for a shor time the light next to it come on and stays on for a while. the three lowerer indicator lights on the left bottom light solid except the middle one with the "A" in the box blinks. The monitor never come on and there are no beeps. I understand that I need to install a bios. but I was expecting to see the monitor light. Is this normal?

Fortunately it turned out to be memory card that were incorrectly seated in the slots.
After taking a long hard look, I recognized that the memory cards were not sitting deep enough in their slots. I reseated the cards and the machine works great.
Good luck on your repairs.
