My screen went black just like that and i don't know why..
I tried changing graphic card and tha worked--for a while and then the same happend again...i tried changing monitor as well but that didnt work..so i wonder what can be the problem, because my comp is starting as normal i can hear it starting up and everything and there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with my monitor just that its black.... im wondering like it is the motherboard, graphic card or the monitor?
or maybe my graphic card gets overheated.. because the cards i tried with is a geforce 3 and a riva tnt ultra and both have a fan on them and my comp can get hot, but not over 40 degress as far as i know..any idea what it might be or any suggestions what to do is greatly appriciated..

you said:///I tried changing graphic card and tha worked--for a while and then the same happend again///how long is a while just after it gets to the desk top? did you just install a driver or pick a higher resolution that your montor doesnt support ? that will cause it too black screen if so you need to go into safemode F8 key at bootup and pick last good running system.

it took around a day and it was in the morning and my computer havent been on anything i just booted it up and after 20-30 min that day the screen just went black, my computer was on and working, the monitor worked as normal it seemed, i noticed nothing wrong except that my screen went black and nothing i do helps..its strange, i dont think its a heat problem either or the graphic cards, so it must be the motherboard..but im gonna keep trying with other stuff, still if anyone else could give me advice i would greatly appriciate it..
oh and im using nvidia 40.72 driver and im using 1024x768 32bit a normal resolution and both the cards support it... the funny thing is ive used my geforce 3 ti200 for a year with no problem whatsoever and this just happend suddenly..maybe its the new driver...agh..
