Subject: Black screen during only 1 video gaOS: windows 2000CPU/Ram: 256 sd 133 |
Comment: While im playing starsiege tribes at random 10-20 minute intervals the dispaly and sound basically turn off and my comp continues to run... my monitor shows a black screen, theres no more sound, yet my comp is still running, fans and cpu etc. THis occurs ONLY when im playing this game or so i think because i tried morrowind and it never crashed for like an hour or more... i thought it might be overheating at first but my cpu temp is 125 Farenheit and im told thats normal, and also overheating is supposed to freeze the screen where it is, not black screen me... Also i cant ctrl alt del or anything out of it i have to power down the comp each time this happens... Could it be power supply? any recommendations would be appreciated.

Reply: (edit)300 watt power supply...could it still be bad? if so why would it only do it on one specific game when i play morrowind which is much more demanding and it works fine?

Reply: (edit)I'm a gamer myself, and it is still bad. Morrowind's "demanding" relies mainly on graphics and the video card, while Starsiege is more complex and requiers more power and memory. A stronger psu should solve your problem.

Reply: (edit)psu= power supply right? i took out my sound card and unplugged both my cdroms and it still crashes... however it doesn't seem to crash when im offline.... wouldn't having the same problem after taking out components show it is not the psu's fault?
