Comment: BLACK BOOT CD Has anybody ever heard of this CD. You can find it on Ebay for about $15.00. It is supposed to fix any problem, speed up your computer, get rid of viruses, and do things with partioning...among other things. Check it out and tell me what you think! Plus there is a really weird picture for a selling point. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3664558018&category=51331

Reply: (edit)Yeah, I got a life. All day long I repair network systems that go down, and users' computers that are subjected to stupidity from folks that should know better (this is not an oblique reference to you, so put your fists down). You look at that website, and seriously want the experienced pros who frequent this website to tell you what they think? Be happy I took the time to try and inject a little humor into your request. Notice that you aren't getting any returns from the regulars here? Wonder why? Don't be so thin-skinned, I wasn't trying to insult you personally.

Reply: (edit)I didn't really mean it that way ranchhand. I am a computer guru at a large company in Madison, WI and I know what it is like having these computer illiterate people talking all day long about simple little things. If somebody came up to me and said should I buy this, I would say NO. Just like everybody says "If it's to good to be true, then it is". Just wanted to know what people thought. Sorry for the comment!

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the url Jtros402. I really did think it was interesting reading but I think that it is a scam. Just an observation but I think that it's amazing that ranchhand spends all day repairing computers and networks for a living then comes here to give advice too. When I "punch out" at my regular job, I don't go to a web site where I can continue doing it.

Reply: (edit)HiYa' Badboy... Guess it's the difference between your job and mine ol' buddy. I chose my field because I love it. Sounds like you don't particularly like your job - sorry about that. I also have slow periods when I can either sit and do nothing or check in on the forum. Then several days will go by when I can't. And yes, thank you for the compliment, at times I do check in on the forum from home, believe it or not. You will find several of the guys here are in the same boat.

Reply: (edit)I caught the David Lee Roth innuendo Ranch (at least I think I did anyway). I too do it for fun AND profit. More the former than the latter unfortunately. I have found that people who call themselves guru's are usually not. Jimi_l

Reply: (edit)He's not the only one here who spends all day fixing systems and then spending time here. I repair and install systems during the day and use this time as a way to help out and find information on problems for a consulting firm I part time for on the side. Richard

Reply: (edit)Yeah, you have a good point, Richard. This forum (and two others I belong to) help me a lot stay on top of what is new. It's really hard because I usually work with older, proprietary units. I learn a lot from these forums.

Reply: (edit)"They had to bring it into my shop, where I charge $45 per hour with a two (2) hour minimum"..... Why would this dude sell his/her trade secret for $20.00? Sounds like a scam.
