I have ran into a problem with this computer that I'm working on. I removed the original 3g hard drive and put a 10g hard in. It had problems with the hard drive at first, but being persistent with it, the computer finally recognized it. I have also installed a cdrom that was not a easy task either. The problem is that now that the computer recognized these two items, I installed them in the case. Now when I power up, keyboard lights come on, led lights on front of comp come on, but I don't hear the single beep that tells me everythings ok. The video will not come up either. I have disabled the onboard video and installed another vid card but still nothing. I have checked all cables and all seem to be fine. all the fans are running. I even tried putting the old hdrive back in and still no vid. I know the vid card works, its from another computer I use often. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what kind of 'new' vid card are u putting in it?
if PCI, the card has to go into PCI slot 1 on the Mobo.

if thats not the case, reset the bios to get yer vid back and let us know from there.

I have tried the vid card in all pci slots and still nothing. I have reset my bios and still nothing. It doesn't even try to take my monitor off suspend unless I take the dimm and move it to bank 1. According to biostar, since this only has one memory card, it should go into bank 0. When put into bank 1, the light on the monitor goes to green (which means ok), but then goes right back to yellow (suspend mode). The hard drive is turning but no reading is going on.

ok, start over.
install ONLY CPU, RAM, Vid card.
take out HD's, cdroms, PCI/AGP cards etc etc.
reset bios and see if system will boot.

Ok, I took everything out and only had cpu, ram, and vid card. No change, monitor never came off suspend. I know the monitor works and the vid card works, i used them both in another computer earlier today. I put vid card in pci slot1 like you said earlier. Computer was working fine yesterday until i installed hrd drive and cdrom in case. I wanted to make sure the comp would detect them before hard install.

wow, ok...
Id say we almost got it figured out.
well, from what i gather, the fans all spin, the LEDS come on, but nothing.
ok....
pull out vid card. see if it will boot or give you beeps.
since u tested the vid card and u say its ok. I would imagine that pulling the vid card and turning on will produce the same reuslts as earlier, nuthin.

which would lead me to think that the mobo mite have went south.

the only thing u can check from this step is the ram, if it went bad....that would casue this behavior to.

with no vid card present, and only the mobo, ram, and CPU installed.
theres only a 4 things it can be.

Power supply(which i doubt since the system does light up)
RAM
MOBO
CPU
if it was the CPU it would still boot, it would give u an error msg, no CPU found.
if ram was the prob, u should still get error codes(beeps) and the same with the vid card.
which leads me to think that it prob was the mobo that went south.

if the bios is corrupted, you will have behavior like you are exp.

let us know what becomes of this.
