Hi guys,
Does anyone know if there is a bios upgade
for my "MSI KT6 Delta FISR" mobo that will
let me lock the AGP and PCI frequencies?

BTW CPU-Z says the model of my mobo is
"MS-6590" if that helps ...

Thanks!

Zee.

You may have to flash your BIOS ,in order to have the most recent chipset drivers for the change in Hardware ,I know with my PC if I was to install a H.D. over a certain size it would not reconize the entire H.D. with the current chipset drivers.I have M.B. a Biostar M6TWG Award BIOS ver6, I would probably just try a second H.D. for added space ,instead of one large capacity H.D. Flashing the BIOS is not for the unexprienced ,like me ,and doing it with a dial up modem can render your PC useless if it was to drop the connection 1/2 thru the process, you would be much better off trying to buy them on CD , or downloading them to a folder B/4 installing to make sure it completes the download ! If you have the brand and version of your BIOS you should be able to find information on its limitations and info on flashing it ! Also your M.B. manufacture may also be able to provide some info. Good Luck Nick

If your BIOS doesn't allow you yo lock the AGP speed at 66MHz (PCI is 1/2 that), there's not much you can do about it except plan your overclocking so that the PCI/AGP doesn't go too high.

Personally, I draw the line at 37.5MHz for the PCI speed (AGP at 75MHz). Some people go beyond this without any problems, but at speeds above 38MHz, you run the risk of data corruption, problems with your optical drives, distorted sound, problems with PCI & AGP cards, etc

If you know what PCI divider you're working with, it's easy to figure what you max safe FSB would be...just multiply the divider number by 37.5MHz.

And to find the divider, you simply divide the "base" FSB by 33.33MHz (true PCI speed):

100MHz FSB / 33 = 3
133MHz FSB / 33 = 4
166MHz FSB / 33 = 5
200MHz FSB / 33 = 6

I see you listed your CPU at 176MHz, which means your "base" FSB is 166MHz. So if you use the info above, your max safe FSB would be 5 x 37.5MHz = 187.5MHz. That would put your CPU speed at 2343.75MHz.

Your M.B. uses a VIA KT600 chipset that doesn't support lock AGP and PCI frequencies.

If you really want to do that you must use a M.B. with a nVIDIA nForce2 or VIA KT880 chipset and ensure that the manufacturer support this.

my 2 cents: check allways the user's manual of the m.b. before buy it.
