Subject: Bios upgrade question-Thinkpad 600 OS: Windows 2000CPU/Ram: PII 300, 164MBManufacturer/Model: IBM Thinkpad 600 |
Comment: I've got this old laptop on which I would like to upgrade the BIOS. When I recieved the laptop (won off ebay) the BIOS was a 1998 version. I tried to update it but it wouldn't let me, as the laptop didn't have a battery installed. I looked on the net and found a way around this and updated it anyway. I used the BIOS off this page: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s... which is clearly dated Ocotber 2001. The BIOS did update successfully (and did in fact fix an issue I was hoping it would). However, for some reason the BIOS date is now 1999! Am I missing something? Thanks for any advice. Alex

Reply: (edit)It is possible the bios version you now have was first written in 1999, and re-published in 2001. The fact that it has fixed whatever issue you had is the important thing. congratulations. I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
