Subject: Bios upgrade needed remotelyOS: XP ProCPU/Ram: Athlon 64 bit 4000+, 1gig |
Comment: Hi Basically my problem is that it seems my Bios on the mobo atm is too out of date to cope with my new athlon 4000+ (and the mobo i have is new aswel). Mobo is an Asus A8N-VM. Basically i plugged it all in, all seemed good, until i turned it on and nothing appeared on the screen. No Bios beeps or anything. I connected it up to my router to see if i could connect to it remotely from a different PC to upgrade the Bios but its not picking it up, but the light on the router sees the connection. Is there any way i can upgrade my Bios via CD or something? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. (And btw all my pieces are in securely and compatible with each other etc etc).

Reply: (edit)You must have a cpu recognized on your motherboard by the bios to begin. You would need to know what Cpu your present bios is capable of recognizing use it,upgrade bios then install new CPU.Maybe you could contact motherboard Vendor and see if you can do an RMA{Return Material Authorization} for bios flash.Did you buy motherboard and CPU from same company?Maybe a local computer shop could flash your bios economically.
