Like Richard notes...If the found update does not provide a fix for the reason you are looking for one then don't update because if does not go as planned then it can render the PC as useless.

I have an older PC (in addition to a new one) and it's BIOS would/will not support hard drives over 32gb. The maker never came out with an update to overcome it either. Knowing this I purchased a two 30gb hard drives replacing the 13gb drive that came with it. I made the purchase while they could still be found. The older PC (1998) still runs great.

I agree with the above. Unless you have a problem that you know a BIOS upgrade will fix then leave it alone. You are just wasting time and effort for no return.

In all the years that I have been using PCs I have only had to update a BIOS once. That was to fix a problem with Nvidia video cards with Windows XP when XP was first released.

Im having trouble getting another processor to work on the board. Its the same type of processor, Celeron. Both are socket FCPGA 370.
The one im trying to put into this computer is 1.1GHz, 128 L2, 100 FSB at 1.75V. The current one is 566 MHz, 128 L2, 67 FSB at 1.46V.
The newer celeron freezes anywhere from 15 seconds to 15 hours after being started up. And can happen when your doing nothing or trying to shut it down. Im also having trouble getting it to support a 256MB SDRAM. I have a stick of it here, that i know works, just took it out of another system that was using it, and put it in this one. It wont detect it and if i put it in there to run by itself the computer wont post. I would like to find an update for the bios to see if it adds support for either the ram or processor or both.

The processor may have an issue but i bought it from someone who said it was taking out of a working system, so if they didnt have trouble with it, im assuming its my board having trouble with it.

Whats the model number of your motherboard?

It is possible that your motherboard doesnt support a 100 Mhz FSB. If that is the case, a BIOS upgrade wont fix it. You need to look at your motherboard specs and see it it will actually support 1.1Ghz CPU. 566 Mhz to 1.1 Ghz is a huge jump that may be beyond your motherboards capability.

Yes my motherboard supports 66, 100, and 133. So its not a problem with that. I cant really find anything about what model number motherboard it is but im looking at it in Everest and thats what it says for the Supported FSB speeds. Only thing i can really get out of it is that its a Intel Whitney i810E motherboard. But the i810E is the chipset.
