This is why you should never attempt a BIOS update unless there is a significant reason or benefit in doing so such as a problem that that particular BIOS update addresses or if you need support for a newer CPU. On a portable computer, you should always have the battery fully charged and the power cord plugged in as well. On a desktop, it is best to be plugged into a quality UPS to prevent power issues. You should never do an update just because there is a newer BIOS version available.
You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
