You probably can't use that CPU, no matter which bios version the mboard has.

There is no AMD Phenom II x4 B95 listed in the CPU comptaibility list on the ECS site for your mboard here:

Click on the CPU heading

...and it's not listed here:

ECS A780GM-A(V1.1) CPU compatibility list

Get a CPU that's on the list.

The newest bios version release note says Support 6 core CPU but it doesn't say which ones.

The CPU support list on the ECS site has no info about what bios version you need to support each CPU version .

The CPU-Upgrade site shows the minimum bios version for some of the CPUs on the same line = the older version of the two bios updates listed on the ECS web site.

The B95 is a business class processor used in OEM systems & appears to be sold only as a "tray" CPU. It's not a standard CPU that's normally sold at sites such as newegg, tigerdirect, etc, but there seems to be a lot of them available on ebay.

It's info may or may not be included in the latest BIOS. That doesn't mean it won't work, but it may not be recognized correctly. It has the same specs as the X4 945. If the system won't boot with the B95 installed, you'll have to install a CPU that is supported, update to the latest BIOS, then remove it & try the B95 again.

ECS is the place to get any bios update. If the exact errata says in the bios revisions that it supports the cpu then you might consider using it. Otherwise do not do any bios updates.

Hang up and live.
