Hi, I have a problem with my toshiba satellite laptop, It was working fine, but a while ago, didn't start.. Is a message on the screen "Bios Damage, please call the service.. Service man, insert the Bios Maintenance Disk and press any key"
Can any body tell me what to do? I love this computer and I know it's something "logical"

Your CMOS battery may be weak or dead. This is a small internal battery that holds CMOS (BIOS) setting when there is no power available. You will need to find a manual to determine how to get to the battery. Below is a link that may be useful.
Here's a thought...how about inserting the Bios Maintenance Disk and pressing any key?
If you don't have the disk, see if you can google one up.

Because that computer is at least nine years old. Boot into the BIOS screens and check some of the values. Expecially the date and time. I think you will find them to be wrong. It sounds like your compputer has the older style of soldered it place battery.
Summary: My friend's laptop displays garbage letters upon boot up. Usually, most of the screen should be blank. But in place of the blank "spaces", there are a bunch of "a" characters, each with a "^" on top...
