BIOS managed boot agent work-around needed

November 3, 2010 at 18:41:11
Specs: none, P3/700 ---256 ram
My laptop hard drive died, and when I tried to replace it I keep getting a message that I need to configure the master boot agent. The computer tells me that this is "managed boot agent version 4.30 and is in the bios. I have not yet found a work-around, and it will not let me flash the bios.
Any ideas?

A computer needs to have an OS. Since your hard drive died the bios has been left in a situation where it tried to boot to the hard drive but the only choice left was PXE. Since you don't have a pxe server you can't boot to a network OS.

If you want you can go to or and get a cd or floppy to boot over the internet.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
