BIOS error message & beeps starting Dell computer

Specs: Windows 7, 2 GB Ram

Alert! Previous attempts to boot this system have failed at Checkpoint C1. Contact the Dell Technical Support. It is the error message displayed when I switched on my computer. More than that, before when I tried to start my computer, the CPU gave 4 beep sounds repeatedly and not Switched on. Then after some time when i tried to start my computer the above error message is displayed. What is wrong in my computer.? Am using Dell System with Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo.

That's pretty useless info. How about the model (Dimension, Inspiron, Optiplex, etc) & model number (580, 2400, SX260, etc) of your Dell?

From the Dell website:

"Alert! Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [nnnn ]. For help in resolving this problem, please note this checkpoint and contact Dell Technical Support — The computer failed to complete the boot routine three consecutive times for the same error. Contact Dell and report the checkpoint code (nnnn) to the support technician."
