You formatted the HDD because of a BIOS problem? You do understand that the HDD/OS has nothing to do with the BIOS, correct?
How many total IDE devices do you have? How many IDE channels? It's best not to pair up two optical drives or two HDDs on the same cable/channel. If possible, make one of them the primary slave...put the other on the 2ndary channel. I assume one is a burner? If it is, put the burner on the 2ndary channel. If not, what's the point of having two CD-ROM drives?
There can be a number of resons for your drives not appearing in the BIOS. First off, one defective drive can stop both on the same cable from showing. Second, the jumpers MUST be configured correctly. Third, the power or data cables may not be fully seated. Fourth, the above cables may be defective. Fifth, the data cable should be an 80 wire cable. The way to identify this type of cable is by the color of the connectors. The MBoard end will be colored blue, red, yellow, or some other bright color. The connector at the opposite end will be black. The connector in the center will be grey. If you cable is not as described then you may have an older style 40 wire cable. Sixth, the IDE controller may not be enabled or functional.
One is a CDwriter and other a DVD writer. All your advice had been carriedout before - but no diffrence. Just to clarify the problem, pl read carefully.
both CDROM's won't boot on only My PC But the same CDROMs get booted on another different PC. Also I can boot any different CDROM on my PC. so the problem is that my own combination of equipment (my PC and my CDROMs )doesnt work together.
Did you ever get this resolved? I am experiencing problems with a CD and DVD Drive. I have them installed on the same channel. They worked fine until I installed an IDE Hard Drive. My original hard drives were identical SATAs. Just curious if you were able to determine what your problem is?
