BIOS Default settings

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a virus in my inspiron 1525 and have tried to load default settings in BIOS but it is not giving me the option to save the changes.

... if that's a symptom I'd suggest replacing the cmos (watch type) battery.

... if its discharged it wo'nt save your settings are your dates scrambled also?

Seems to be two issues. One is the virus question. Is it a Windows virus or suspected bios virus? Very slim chance it could be a bios virus.

I agree with mavis007 about the possibility that the bios battery has failed.


To be exact. What do you mean you can't save the data? No F key or no menu option to save or does it not save when you pull power plug and try again.

I assume you are change the bios settings to boot to a cd. Otherwise there isn't much there that can fix a virus.
