Comment:

I have a GA-7N400 Pro motherboard, XP3200 CPU, FX5200 AGP graphics and two
IDE Hard drives (40gb and 80gb). Windows XP Home ................All is
working fine.
I have decided to replace my two IDE Hard Drives with a SATA ( Maxtor
160GB).
When installing the Windows XP Home (using F6 etc) the system hangs for over
a minute after the PCI Devices Listing............It says "Verifying DMI
Pool Data" ...........after a minute it will then boot up normally. I have
done a search re the DMI and tried a few things all to no avail.
I then saw on the Maxtor website
(http://maxtor.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/maxtor.cfg/php/enduser/popup_adp.php?p_s
id=KQDn2whh&p_lva=887&p_li=&p_faqid=1044&p_created=1020905052) about the
exact problem I am having.

It gives a couple of suggestions to resolve it.
Most of it is straight forward but a couple of things that I do not
understand is "Ensure the LBA Mode option is
enabled".......................what is that and where do I find it?
The other thing I cannot seem to find or know how to do it is where it says
"Disable both the Internal and External CPU Cache.".

Any assistance/advice/help would be gratly appreciated

Thanks

Allan
