Hey. I just bought a new computer for the purpose of video editing. I bought the proper hardware to take video off of my old video camera's VHS-C tapes, but it diddnt come with any software. What would the best software be, and i am willing to spend money, for taking these video clips off of tapes, editing them, and saving onto my computer so i can burn them with NERO? Thanks.

I use PowerVCR. It's the best I've found. It is very flexible as far as recording options.
For simple editing I use mpeg2vcr.
I record using mpeg1 because I've never found an editor that works right with mpeg2. The audio and video always get out of sync with mpeg2.
If someone has a fix for that, it would be great.

I also had a problem with captured MPEG2 getting out of sync; they seemed OK, but when i burned them as a DVD, the audio always went out of line. Didn't matter what software I used.
Now I re-encode them using TMPGEnc, then write using My DVD, and all is consistently OK. TMPG is mainly oriented on AVI processing, but with an extra codec added, works fine.
