I have already asked about the best AGP card for Windows '98 before but I need more information about this card. I'm looking for a GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP card, which has drivers for Windows '98. There are many types of GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP cards by many manufacturers, but I don't know if all of them have drivers for Windows '98.
Right now I have an ATI Radeon 9600XT AGP card by Saphire. In its box it's written that it has drivers for Windows '98 but in the driver disk there are no Windows '98 drivers at all. I downloaded the latest version of Catalyst, which can run under Windows '98 (version 4.3), and the ATI 9600XT chipset appears in the list of the chipsets supported by this driver, but the card itself is not supported by this version of Catalyst. It's supported only by version 4.6 and above, which cannot be installed under Windows versions older than Windows 2000.
I hate this card anyway, because its performance is just awful. I need to get a better one, a GeForce 6800 Ultra, which can be used under Windows '98.
Do you know anything about any high quality AGP card that uses the GeForce 6800 Ultra chipset and can be used under Windows '98? The original nVidia driver may not be useful since it runs only the chipset but not the card itself, just as happened to me with the ATI Radeon card.

I don't think you know what you're doing.
The latest ATI driver for your 9600XT is version 6.2. I suggest you run just the driver, not the Catalyst Control Center, so all you need to download & install is the 3.3MB WDM Driver Package:

Make sure to unistall the old driver & Catalyst Control Center, reboot, then install the WDM Driver Package.
"The original nVidia driver may not be useful since it runs only the chipset but not the card itself"
The chipset is on the motherboard, not the video card...I'm not sure what you're getting at with that comment. Here's the complete list of nVidia drivers for 98/ME...version 81.98 was the latest & greatest:

Catalyst 6.2 cannot be installed under Windows '98. The latest version supported by this operating system is 4.3 and it supposed to support any graphics card with the 9600XT chip, but it doesn't. I tried installing the WMD driver package, but it didn't work.
I meant to the GPU chip (sorry, English is not my first language). Four years ago I had a card that used the GeForce 5200 chip, but the latest nVidia driver at that time (2004) could not recgnize the GPU on it. Only the GeForce 6 drivers could.

"Catalyst 6.2 cannot be installed under Windows '98"
Then why is the driver called "Catalystâ„¢ 6.2 Drivers and ATI Multimedia Software for Windows 98/Windows 98 SE/Windows ME"?
According to ATI it should work. Why won't it install on your system? What happens?

It doesn't work. The installer refuses to start and says "Unsupported operating system". Maybe because I'm using a non-English version of Windows '98. It does not matter because I want to throw that awful card away from my computer anyway.
