UK£ 200 = 390.1 U.S. dollar = none for Vista. Vista runs robustly on a PC with 4GB RAM, among other things.

From what I have read, Vista will require a minimum of 2GB of RAM. Decent RAM alone will cost $200 or more, not leaving to much more for MBoard, Graphics card, and NEW power supply. If you have an Acer machine I doubt the PSU is going to do the job.
You may want to consider buying a dell or something like that. The cost of Vista alone is quite a bit.

Might be tough to (or probably impossible) replicate over there in the UK, but very much doable here in the US.

MSI K8N Neo4 nForce4 Ultra @ $41

AMD Opteron 144 Venus 1.8GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 @ $70

G.SKILL Value 2GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) @ $140

EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 @$90

This all comes to a $341 machine with some $50 left over for booze or a better PS should you need one ;-)
