Benchmarking SATA software

Specs: Windows XP
We are trying to convince ourselves a SATAIII hard drive is connecting to a SATAIII port at a 6GHZ symbol rate. Is there some software available which can confirm this?

Sata III interface is capable up to 600mb/s, sata III hdd and ssd aren't capable to run at that speed.

Please see SerialATA_Revision_3_0_Gold specification. The physical interface runs at 6.0 GBps for SATAIII. The physical interface for SATAII is 3 GBit/sec and the physical interface runs a 1.5 GBit/sec for SATAI. This is not the data transfer rate as there is overhead bits and burst lengths which reduce the effective bit rate. This is simply the symbol rate when information is being transferred at the physical layer of the communication link.

"The physical interface runs at 6.0 GBps for SATAIII"

That is incorrect. The interface is capable of 6.0 Gbit/s, but HDDs don't come close to reaching that capability.

I use Aida64's built in Disk Benchmark for read speed benching.

FYI I have 2 x SATA III Hard Drives running in RAID0 and I only read at 250mb/s on the fastest part of the disks.
