[BEFSX41] Gaming issue. Should I upgrade my router?
Hi. I have a BEFSX41 linksys router. I play Warhammer 40k: Dawn of war almost every day.
When I try to create and host a game I get an error saying that "the listing server can't connect due to a router or firewall issue." Something with a UDP problem.
Some things to keep in mind:
1. I'm on the DMZ port.
2. I've forwarded the right port for the game to host. 6112.
3. I've even passed a community made applet to test if the port is working. It will connect and list if all the tcp and udp ports are passing.4. I use outpost software firewall. I made a rule to allow UDP connections. (though it might not be perfect) I even turned the firewall off completely and still got the error - so that's not it.
I tried all this and I still can't HOST games.
I can join games fine btw.So, should I upgrade my firmware? I've read on the games forums that that might help. I keep reading horror stories about upgrading firmware and I'd rather not spend all day fixing it after a quick flash.
I'm using: firmware 1.44.3, Dec 24 2002
yes, it's old, but I never have issue with anything else.
If i do need to upgrade do you have any tips on how to do it correctly?

Maybe your router is connected to another router that does have a firewall, such as a VOIP adapter. Sometimes cable/dsl modems might have firewalls in them.
Also try connecting directly to the internet w/o the router and see if that works.
