I have a compaq laptop that is a few years old. It all of the sudden wont charge the battery. When i put my battery in my friend laptop it charges fine and when the battery is all charged ir runs fine on battery power. I am way out of warrenty and already contacted hp/compaq about thsi problem and all they said was to take it in to a autorized service place but the closest one is about an hour away. Any clues on how to fix this and about how much it will be to fix? Thank you Jim

I own a Compaq LTE 5300 that I recently purchased (used) and this is more than a few years old and the battery works fine in it,so I think maybe if yours charges up in your friends lap top and not in yours it's not the battery that's at fault,you may have to clean off the contacts inside your unit or maybe the charger is ca-put,I would think either way you go with a new battery or puting in a new charger unit is quite costly,why don;t you go the way I did if your going to use this in your car or truck,, pick up a small inverter 12 volt to AC ,a 200 watt should do you,and run it off your cigarette lighter socket,these come with the attachments nothing else to buy, unless you use this while your in the coffee shop, then this option would not help you much,but I think this is the best way to go as these lap tops don't require much to run them,the choice is yours though........Nero
