Battery not dectected or charging

September 19, 2011 at 09:17:51
Specs: Windows 7
I have a new generic battery for my Packard bell EN TJ65. When the battery is inserted the laptop does not detect it.
The laptop ran on what power was already in the battery but shut down without warning when it was depleted. I've plugged in the AC power and it does not charge the battery.
I've been to a laptop repair shop who checked the bios and said it was not showing any problems, nor any hardware problems.
I've tried the battery in another laptop (Acer) and it was detected and charged fine.
Can you help me please.

The battery is detected by your laptop, charge the battery for 6 hours.

Thanks for your reply.I have left it charging overnight and it still says no battery detected and it only put 5 minutes of charge in before the laptop switched off again.

There's probably something else wrong.

"Packard bell EN TJ65"

"I've tried the battery in another laptop (Acer) and it was detected and charged fine."

Are you SURE you bought the RIGHT battery ?
A battery for a Packard bell EN TJ65 won't necessarly work in an Acer laptop and visa versa ! You may have bought a Acer compatible battery that is NOT compatible with your Packard bell EN TJ65 !

Did you have this problem BEFORE you replaced the battery ?

Have you dropped this laptop, or have you spllled liquid on it , since any battery was last detected properly?

Laptop no video (or video problems), and battery, AC adapter, power jack T shooting.

Yes it's definately the right battery. I double checked before I bought it. It wasn't until I had this problem that I realised the acer has the same battery. I've even tried the acer battery in the PB and again battery not detected and not charging.
This is the 2nd battery, the shop I bought it from sent me a replacement as I thought the 1st was faulty.
The laptops not been dropped or anything spilt on it, in fact if I put the original battery back in the laptop detects it, but it doesn't hold a charge anymore.

What's the Acer laptop model ?

I haven't had a lot of experience with replacing laptop main batteries, but for a Compaq and an HP model, the clone replacement battery was detected and charged fine and worked fine
