Hi,

I'm wanting to buy a Barton 2500+ but I want to make sure what the week number is before I buy it...

I have looked at the box and noticed a serial number thing on the box, where in that is teh week number?

thanks...

Oops. I was thinking you were looking at OEM chips in the clear plastic.

I might be able to see that through the box as well... thanks... I'll have a look later and report back..

p.s. the box also has clear plastic at the back so you can actually see the chip

Is there a "bad batch" that we should know about? Just curious why it would matter.

From other threads/pages I've read, I believe the right mobo and BIOS will unlock the multiplier (i.e. an ABit NF7-S is one example) regardless of the locked multiplier on the chip.

Even with the Athlon64, if you get an Asus and a BIOS update, you can unlock that as well (saw an article with overclocking either on AnandTech or TomsHardware where that was done).

Or if any of you out there have experience with the above noted where that DEFINITELY DOES NOT WORK (at least with the newer Bartons), let me know. Thinking of getting another/newer 2500+ as I've read the overclocking is much better on them.
