I just booted up my computer today and it won't even load to where I can see the bios. The monitor displays, Monitor is working check cables to video card. Well I did that, and the cable is hooked up properly, I even tested it on another PC and the monitor is fine. Does this mean my video card went bad? any ideas would be helpful.

thanks,
Bryn

NO, it is too old and does not have an AGP slot, but I did take the PCI video card out of the old computer and try it out. Same thing occurs, I am begining to think my motherboard has gone bad. any more help?

well you can rule out the video card being bad now cant you..it does sound like the motherboard bios went bad or corropted since your not getting and bios screen display.your cpu fan is spinning correct?try taking out the vedio card and then boot it up you should get BEEPS http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml if no BEEPS your bios is toast! ussually. or it points to a Bad powersupply.

I took the card out and booted up, no beeps at all. The fans all are working properly, I have 3 in all. I think the motherboard bios is the problem. Can I only fix it buy buying a new one?

you can put in a new bios chip in but the cost about 20.00 bucks, i would just buy a new motherboard on www.pricewatch.com for about $35.00 you can hunt for one on ebay too, yours is a older board type only useing the sdram so theres lots of them cheap out there.

Could be memory issue... Are you getting any post code beeps?

If you have more than one stick of RAM try removing one of them, and then the other. Maybe you can even borrow a stick from a friend.

Unplug and reseat all your adapter cards as well as your RAM.
