Goodmorning, I have a 20 Gig harddrive with 20 Megs of bad sectors on it for about a year now. It's been used practically every day. I've asked a few computer technicians and also read a few posts and they all say to go out and get a new one because your harddrive is going to fail.
Well guess what? Its been a year and it hasn't failed. Nor have I had trouble with it.

I was afraid this was going to happen. You haven't answered my question.

Your OS will not write to the bad sectors - it will "mark" them and avoid using them for data. The failure point comes when your programs cease to run because their file information is within some bad sectors.
