Hi,

I think something is badly wrong with my memory..

First of all, my PCMark04 memory scores are horrible! I dont come any higher than 1600, while other people with very similiar systems score around 3000~5000

Second, I think the memory also has bad performance in gaming, my Videocard has a good score, but when i'm gaming there is a really strange performance degrease; when i'm shooting or there is lots of smoke in a game, the fps can drop from 60 to 20.

I already tried different virtual memory pagingfile sizes, even disabled it but it doesn't make any difference.
There're also not many background applications running, when idle it's around 150MB.
I also reseated my RAM, from dual to singe, in different slots and even tried other RAM modules, but no good.

Here're the specs:
AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ @ 2,4GHz (200MHzx12)
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
2x512MB Kingston PC3200
Gigabyte 6800GT
Western Digital 160GB

So any help would sure be appreciated:)
Thanks in advance.

How do you have your memory set in your BIO's?
Are you running in sync?
By the way, duel channel will be of no benefit on your system.

Are you running 32 bit color? Try changing to 24 bit.

Yes, it's running at 100% (200MHz) so it's running in sync.
btw, my RAM timing are 8-3-3-2.5

What color settings do you mean?
The one in display mannager..?
Ifso, I can only set it to 16 bit, and that looks really really not nice..

Oh golly, you probably are using the windows default video card driver. Determine the make and model of your video adapter and download and install the driver for it.

Everest Home Edition might be of some help. It's a free download.

Check in Device Manager to see what your Display Adapter says.

Hmmm, that is very strange that you can change your color setting. That's 'always' caused by the wrong driver.
I'm afraid that I give up. Maybe someone else or the Nvidia site will have some ideas.

OOOPS, sorry Comper. I misread your post of 16 bit as 16 color. You are evidently in good shape with your video card/driver. SORRY about that!!!

Have you even tested your ram to see if they're good? (google for memtest)

Doesn't pcmark benchmark your cpu, not your memory? Try downloading sisoft sandra and running the memory benchmarks.

I don't know anything about AMD. Is that overclocked?

Checked for viruses, ads, malware?

Well i also tried different modules of RAM.. so i dont think anything is wrong with the RAM itself.

PCMark gives you a score for CPU, RAM, VGA and HDD

Yes it's overclocked.. normally a 2500+ runs at 1,8GHz but i currently have it running at 2,4GHZ

Also there are no virusses that i am aware of.. i have a well updated version of Norton Antivirus 2004 and just ran a full system scan and it found nothing.

I will download sisoft sandra and allready got memtest but i dont know how it works.. when does the test complete..?
